The Book Exchange, located on the
first floor of the historic Old Flat Rock Post Office, is a favorite
source of used books (both hard cover and paperbacks), new books,
magazines, greeting cards and note paper for both locals and visitors in
the area. With the exception of consignment books, greetings cards
and note paper, all items we sell have been donated and ALL PROCEEDS GO TO
LOCAL CHARITIES. We always need volunteers to work at the Book Exchange.
Just one day a month 10am - 4pm or half day, if you prefer. Please call
Ivy Cowell at 828-698-9149. The Book Exchange is run by the all-volunteer Ladies Aid Society of Flat Rock, Inc. Through the generous donations of books/magazines and the volunteer hours of our staff and members, local charities received over $20,000 in 2005. |
Besides paperbacks, books and
magazines, we carry beautiful prints of historic Flat Rock homes by artist
Cora Minty. We also have Flat Rock license plates and books on the history
of Flat Rock by authors Sadie Patton, Galen Reuther and local historian
Louise Bailey. “Card Houses,” by craftswoman, Dorothy Carey, are also very
popular and make wonderful gifts. Please stop by…enjoy a little history
and take home a memory and a bargain! To reach our parking area, turn into Village Center Drive (opposite the Flat Rock Playhouse). Drive around to the back of the Village Hall and continue on to the Book Exchange building. |
